This page is dedicated to news and stories of former pupils of Kingsmead of all generations. We are especially interested in your memories of your days at the school, and welcome all information for publication on this site.

4th September 2008 |  Sara, Owen and Freya Charnley were the subject of an e-mail from parents Viv and Stuart, from Little Sutton.

Sara graduated from St Andrews with a First in Art History, is now living and working in Edinburgh, and about to start a Master's in that field.

Owen, who joined Kingsmead in 1989, has been working for a charity in South America, and is due to return there in November. Freya, who is still in touch with many friends from her Kingsmead days, won an Art scholarship to Repton from Kingsmead, and completes her GCSE courses there next summer.

12th July 2008 | Arjun Chandna, Laura Davies and Richard Skinner are the latest in a line of high flying academic success stories announced by the school.

Arjun Chandna graduated from Gonville and Caius College Cambridge with a first class honours in Natural Sciences. Arjun’s degree was earned with the top mark awarded in 2008 in his subject.

Laura Davies, who was in Arjun’s year group at Kingsmead and who performed outstandingly well at Kingsmead at GCSE level, also earned a first class honours from a top university – Sheffield – in Psychology, whilst classmate Richard Skinner , a county standard rugby player,  was awarded a 2.1 in Economics at Durham.


19th March 2008 |  Ben White and Nick Davison called in a few months after leaving Kingsmead in summer 2007. Ben is now following the family trade, apprenticed as a butcher in Greasby, whilst Nick is following science-based A levels at Birkenhead Sixth Form College. Also in school on the same day was Jess McKenna who left at the same time as Ben and Nick. Jess's older brother Ashley was at Kingsmead too.

14th March 2008 |  Chris and Antony Michael 2003 leaver Chris and 2005 leaver Antony called to visit the school. Antony is at Loughborough University whilst Chris is working towards a managerial role in engineering. Chris remembered Vincent Kanu, Matthew Biddiscombe, James Myles, James Auger, Donna Courtney and Michelle McCrudden, whilst Antony's thoughts were of Niall Keay, Lianne Marshall and Amanda Roberts.

17th January 2008 |  Kate Mayne and Rebecca Biddiscombe 2006 leavers Kate Mayne and Rebecca Biddiscombe were welcome visitors when they paid a recent call on the school to catch up with their former teachers.

 

Kate is now pursuing a career in hairdressing as an Andrew Collinge apprentice in Birkenhead. She has met Andrew, himself a former pupil of Kingsmead.

Becky is holding down two part time jobs at present and is intending resuming her academic career, possibly into nursing, following a short break.

Both girls are still in contact with many of their classmates and mentioned Felicity Dean, Josh Sharter and Josh Chanin, Ashley McKenna and Tom Ashton in particular, as well as Dan Johnson. Becky also sees Lucy Hughes and Jenny Mason from her brother Matthew's time at Kingsmead.

11 November 2007 | Lianne Marshall , who left in 2005, has completed her sixth form and is working in Sleaford before joining the Royal Navy in the next few weeks as a Hydrographic meteorological oceanographic specialist.

Recent weeks have also seen visits from former pupils Jason Campbell, Francesca Arthur, Romy Nuttall-Jones, Amy Robinson, Laura Morris and Yasmin Daws. Yasmin has moved back to the Wirral to finish her sixth form with her Kingsmead friends, whom she missed when she studied for AS levels in the South of England.

21 September 2007 | Beth Smith, who was one of the most popular Head Girls of recent times with staff and students alike, has finished her Art Foundation in Falmouth and has accepted a place at the London University of the Arts, Camberwell College, where she will study for a degree in Art Conservation.

21 September 2007 | Hugo Tuplin, who was one of the first students to stay on at Kingsmead to study for his GCSE qualifications, has been awarded his M.Sc.

15 September 2007 | Francesca Arthur, who completed her GCSE exams at Kingsmead in Summer 2007, has set her sights on West End stardom. For the full story, click here!

4 July 2007 | Timothy Hughes (who left Kingsmead 10 years ago) has just graduated with a 'First' with distinction at Jesus College Cambridge. MEng degree in Civil Engineering.

3 July 2007 | Sean Duncan, who left Kingsmead in 2002, has been Head of School House at Shrewsbury as well as Captain of Boats. In Autumn 2007 he heads off to study at Harvard University.

2 July 2007 | Laura Jackson who completed her GCSE examinations at Kingsmead, earning a record ten A* grades, has accepted a place at Corpus Christi, Oxford, to read PPE.
