Super Friday

Friday June 6th was a successful day for Kingsmead athletes, with no fewer than five students progressing from the North-Western athletics finals in Stockport to the National finals to be held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

Year 7 successes dominated the day, with Dominic Potter winning the Long Jump whilst Emma Wilson took the 100 metres sprint title. James Pinnington will be joined in Birmingham by Jess Cutts of Year 8 in the javelin, whilst Kingsmead’s star distance runner Richard Evans, soon to represent Wirral in the Merseyside Games, won the 1500 metres race.

Older students (pictured above) were praised for their leadership roles in stewarding the day's events and ensuring their younger counterparts could perform so well.

Director of Physical Education Mr  Phillips was delighted. “It was a great day” he commented ,“and the team spirit was amazing. It was so good to see our students celebrating each other’s success.”
